Glorious! That’s how I felt when we left McDonald’s this afternoon, much later than we had planned to leave, Cameron was in his element and so enjoyed volunteering today for McHappy Day for Ronald McDonald House and children’s charities and what a great day we had. What a wonderful event!
Cam was pretty excited heading into the restaurant and as soon as we got through the door, he was ALL business. While this Mom wanted to talk and chat and say “Hello” to everyone, Cameron quite seriously told me several times in our first 15 minutes there, “Mom, get to work!” as he would point me in the direction of my station, like a stern parent disciplining their roving child. Need to work on the telling Mom what to do, however, you gotta love the focus and work ethic.
Cameron got to work the counter and boy did he love that! Thank you to Sophia, a real sweetheart, who trained him and really made his day special and thank you to Justin too!
We had lots of family and friends visit too in support of the charities and that really made Cam’s day. We know that on a Wednesday afternoon, it’s not possible for everyone to stop what you are doing; thank you to the staff of Birchwood who came in, Birchwood Intermediate is the BEST SCHOOL! And thank you family and friends, especially for making the picture taking with Cameron quick and efficient so that he could get back to work. Your cooperation on that aspect was greatly appreciated. Right Erin!? 😉
The McDonald’s staff was awesome as we moved to the Drive Thru, Sara, Allison, Laura, I’m sorry I didn’t get everyone’s names, you were all wonderful. 🙂 Wow, that spot is busy! And Cam was working it like a pro, “Here’s your food, I LIKE your dog, what’s his name?” he said to one customer. Next customer: “Here’s you food, I LIKE your baby!” He was amazing! Greeting each customer, all business, told me to move a few times and to catch up on putting the tops on the pop, hmmm, -_-. Management position some day Lori? 😉 But, he continued to be welcoming and friendly with all, a real ambassador.
And each customer at the drive thru was so wonderful, what a great bunch of people in our beautiful community. Thanks to you all for supporting McHappy Day!
So, at the end of the day, after we had worked one hour overtime, Cameron DID NOT want to leave, I smiled at him and asked…”Do you want to work here someday Cam?”
“Mom!”, he answered, looking at me with a ‘have you forgotten the plan?!’ scowl on his face,
“…I am going to be LITTLE AGAIN!!”
